Melons Australia, in partnership with the Hort Innovation Melon Fund, is offering opportunities for both levy-paying growers and non-levy-paying melon industry members to participate in a range of study tours over a three-year period. Details on the available tours can be found at www.melonsaustralia.org.au. By applying for one of these opportunities, you commit to a small financial contribution and participation in reporting through recorded interviews.
Current Study Tour on Offer:
In late June/early July 2025 (at present 30th June to 11thJuly 2025), we will be taking a Melon Study tour through growing regions in Spain and potentially Italy (with final dates and tour locations to be confirmed). The European Study Tour will begin in southern Spain, and potentially progress to Italy also, and will include visits to trial demonstration sites, grower visits, innovation and new technology demonstrations, retail outlets and wholesale markets amongst other planned activities.

Terms and Conditions:
As a recipient of a part-funded position on international study tour, all participants are representing both their own business as well as the Australian melon industry. Funding for this activity is comprised of both the National Melon Levies and matched funds from the Australian Government, and as such all participants are required to maintain professional behaviour at all times.
The purpose of these terms and conditions is to provide all participants with a clear understanding of the standard of conduct expected when performing your duties as a participant of study tours organised by Melons Australia. These T’s & C’s place an obligation on all participants to take responsibility for their own conduct. It outlines the expectations for behaviour while participating in levy-funded study tours.
1. All participants must conduct themselves in a professional manner having regard to the spirit and intent of the Study Tour.
2. All relevant international rules and laws should be complied with by all participants.
3. All participants must dress professionally and act consistently with these terms and conditions in all interactions, at work and work-related activities (including those outside of work hours).
4. All participants should treat everyone with respect and courtesy, recognising social and cultural differences and treat everyone fairly, equitably and without discrimination.
5. Organisers should be informed immediately of any breaches of these T’s & C’s.
6. Actual and perceived conflicts of interest should be declared by all participants and it is the participants’ responsibility to manage conflicts that arise.
7. All participants should review pre-departure documentation provided by Melons Australia.
8. All participants must make their own assessment regarding the appropriateness and risk of travel to any destination. Melons Australia does not guarantee the safety of travel in any respect, nor to the regions being visited as part of the study tour.
